We’re delighted to announce that Howard Sharp, a Commercial Account Handler in our Lincoln office, has been awarded The John Middleton Rising Star Award.

About the award

Born on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border, John Middleton began his business career at the CIS in 1966 and, from there, moved to Thomas Howell in Northampton in 1971. Once he was fully qualified as a Loss Adjuster, he was then given the Thomas Howell office in Lincoln to develop. He helped to grow this branch until its closure in 2002 following a company restructure.

As a committed supporter of Lincoln Insurance Institute for over 26 years, John became its president in 1981 and took over as Honorary Secretary in 1984, a post he held continuously until 2006, except for his second term as president in 2000.
The other love of John’s life was snooker and when he became president of the Lincoln Insurance Institute for the second time, Dennis Taylor was their guest speaker.
Sadly, John passed away in 2006 after a rich personal and career journey. In 2007, the Council of Lincoln Institute decided they wanted to honour John’s memory by setting up an award in his name. Their President, Dr Charles Shaw, suggested a Rising Star Award.

How it’s awarded

The John Middleton Rising Star Award is available to exceptional people aged 30 or under. Howard was selected for the award by the Lincoln CII following his commitment and completion of his Diploma in Insurance.

“At Thompson and Richardson, we’re truly proud of Howard and this huge achievement. This award represents his commitment to his role and his ambition to continually build upon his own development. “
