Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue will encourage business owners and managers to be switched on about fire safety at a number of events being held in the county next month.
Prevention and protection manager Dan Moss spoke to Lincolnshire Business about how the service had responded following the devastating Grenfell Tower fire, and how the tragedy had brought fire safety to the forefront of everyone’s minds.
He said: “Community fire prevention is always at the forefront of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s activities. It’s all about risk reduction. We’re going out, we’re engaging. We’re actually auditing and carrying out checks to make sure that businesses and premises have got all the requirements – for instance a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. We carry out a number of business engagement seminars across the county to ensure that we try and engage with business owners.”
Engagement events being held by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue across the county in the week beginning September 11 will aim to provide advice to businesses, and reduce the number of unnecessary callouts which are costly and time-consuming.
Last year, the service was called out to over 800 false alarms, mostly caused by poor maintenance and guidance.
The seminars are aimed at business owners or managers in a position of responsibility to ensure that they are fully aware of their fire safety requirements.
It will also provide information on practical issues such as emergency lighting and fire detection systems.
The events will take place at:
Monday September 11th, 2pm at Boston Fire Station
Tuesday September 12th, 2pm at Lincoln South Fire Station
Friday September 15th, 2pm at Grantham Fire Station
