Avian flu confirmed in Suffolk

Restrictions have been put in place around a farm in Suffolk after the UK’s Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer has confirmed H5N8 avian flu at the poultry premises.

The affected farm near Redgrave, Mid Suffolk, contains around 23,000 birds.

A decision has been made to humanely cull the remaining birds, while a 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the infected premises to limit the risk of the disease spreading.
